5 Fantastic Team Building Activities

Today we’re talking about team building because we know their value. We’ve been working on escape games now for some time, and we know better than anyone how popular they are with corporate teams. However, what other games are there that you and your team can benefit from? We’re going to be going over 5 of the best and then you can decide which one best suits your team.

1 Zombie Escape

This doesn’t have to mean even leaving the building. You can do it from your corporate HQ. Just book a conference room for the afternoon and then lock yourselves in. Select someone out of your team to be the zombie. They’ll be tied to a rope in the corner and gradually you can allow the ‘zombie’ closer to the rest of the team as you try to work out some clues and puzzles. The longer it takes, the closer the zombie gets, and eventually you’ll need to find a hidden key, before the zombie reaches you!

2 It’s a Knockout

A tried and tested game based on an old theme. There are a number of obstacles, most including water and soap, and your team must work their way through them all to get to the finish line, whoever gets there first is the winner. It’ll involve getting your team out of the office to an outdoor facility that does this type of thing, and there are a few venues that do. However, no doubt your team will be grateful for the opportunity to get out of the office for the day.

3 Military Team Building Exercises

These are proving popular. They involve going through a series of obstacles (again!), most having been designed by ex-military and are meant to truly test your physical agility and mental prowess. Those with physical impairments may not enjoy this type of activity, especially for those who aren’t particularly fit either, but it’s up to you to decide whether your team is up to it. It can be tremendous fun and an exhilarating experience.

4 Scavenger Hunt

This will really depend on collaboration and team bonding skills. You’ll organise your team into separate groups and then draw up a list of fun things for them to do with one mission in mind, and that is to find something at the end, like a prize. Each item that is completed on their list is ticked off and the first group to finish is the winner. It could be spotting landmarks or certain items within a landscape which they must photograph, and then eventually they get to the final one. It’ll be a route that everyone will follow.

What are Escape Games

Today we’re going to be talking about escape games. If up until now you thought escape games were something your children played in the garden when they’re bored, or a computer game you have absolutely no interest in finding out about, you couldn’t be more wrong. You’ll be pleased to know that escape is a game for adults and older children. It’s a game that’s played out in a themed room and not a computer screen, or a garden. In fact, it’s a game where you have to use your brain, think carefully and work out a series of puzzles and cryptic clues in order to escape.

60 Minutes To Escape – And Only Your Friends To Help You

Is that it? Well, no because you only have an hour to work out all the puzzles and clues before you get out – so 60 minutes isn’t that long. You’ll need to keep your wits about you and have a team that’s as sharp-witted as you are. Communication is key and allowing everyone to communicate their ideas so you have a better chance of escape, everyone gets their say and that’s important. Collect all your clues together, and then on the final home run, work them out so you can get out within the hour.

Themed Rooms That Are Fun and Capture The Imagination

The themes are a real mix of popular cultural influences, there’s the Da Vinci Room, and Area 51, and working creatively together you can solve the puzzles in the themed room of your choice. Lose yourself in your imagination and enjoy the hour you’re in there.

Escape Games Are Popular With A Wide Variety Of Different Groups

Escape games are enjoyed by a variety of different people, we have students, corporate teams, hen and stag dos, birthday parties and people who come just for a break away from the chaos of daily life. Don’t Let Anyone Dominate Proceedings

Of course when you are under pressure and the time is ticking it is easy to become frustrated and flustered. The most important advice we can give you is not to freak out or try and take complete control if someone is working on a clue that takes a little longer. Support each other and assist if required, working as a team is what’s needed, with everyone getting a fair chance to crack the clues and puzzles.

Pay Attention

Make sure that throughout the game you observe carefully everything around you. With only 60 minutes on the clock don’t sit still because every minute counts and there’s a potential clue in every book or chair in that room. Search everywhere and don't leave any stone uncovered, maybe even split the room into sections so each team member can assist in ensuring all hidden clues are found.

Don’t Lose Anything

Once you have found all the clues it is important not to become complacent. Ensure that you keep a hold of every clue and remember where you put them! When you are against the clock and have pressure it can be easy to accidentally lose a vital clue. Everything is strategically placed somewhere in that room for a reason, so you can piece together a clue that helps you get out.
